While structurally no different than the 2010 model, the 2009 Scapegoat was given the duty of closing out that horrible decade in style. Built of all-mountain aluminum, (as opposed to the 2010 weapons-grade aluminum) the ’09 Scapegoat lays the technical foundation upon which all later Diamondback bikes are built. Diamondback’s patented Knuckle Box Technology anchors the frame and solid Truvativ Hammerschmidt cranks offer you 6 inches of smooth travel. 2009’s Scapegoat also successfully utilizes SRAM XO shifters, derailleurs and chains, setting a working reliance upon SRAM components that is still continued today with Diamondback’s 2010 and 2011 model.
