Purchased this over the bank holiday blow out sales for an amazing price
at richer sounds (399 new)... The shop manager tried to put me off it
and encouraged me to buy an LG unit they had on offer. He said it's a
50hz unit so will have alot of motion blur and sports would be
unbearable etc... really said it was the worst t.v and they wouldnt even
put it on the shelf and just kept it in storage. Now I was realy
worried but owning other panasonic items I thought I would go with my
gut feeling and still purchase it. Just for reference I also own a high
end G20series panasonic 42" plasma which is astonishing in every way.
The things I wated were:

Great price
My usage:
second living room set which is mainly for soaps, news, documentries etc, so no gaming or movies.

The
set ticked all the box's. I set it up within 10 minutes and on screen
instructions made it a doddle to tune in etc... first impressions were a
bit scary through my sky+ box with a terrible picture. I then switched
over to the freeview box and was blown away with the picture. Now i
realised it was not the set but my settings on the sky box as I was
using scart lead and aspect ratio etc was not setup properly. The HD
imagine was lovely through the feeview and it's really a pleasure to
watch, I have not experienced any screen judder/motion blur or anything
negative with this set. I am so impressed I am contemplating buying
another one for the kitchen! Sport through HD was awesome and i watched a
whole rugby match which again was just so impressive for budget t.v. SD
sport is a bit dissapointing but in SD it is with my high end set
too.... saying this other than sport SD is very very good, obviously old
content which was recorded with old technology wont be the best through
a big set like this. I played with the settings to get the picture
setup just perfect, if you spend some time playing with the contrast,
brightness and sharpness in the true cinema mode you can really get a
great picture. For some reason however my freeview box still displays
images better than my sky box but maybe thats to do with using a scart
lead or my dish signal. It is defo not the t.v set to blame. Hollyoaks,
Eastenders, grand prix etc are just stunning when viewing through HD via
the freeview box.

Anyway for the price I am totally blown away
by this set.. my G20 panasonic plasma is much better but the average
person wouldnt even know the difference! I am a bit hardcore when it
comes to appliances so if am happy with this set I reckon 99% of others
will be too.
I have a 32 inch Panasonic full HD LCD TV and I spent many hours (days,
in fact) going through customer reviews of all the models I could find
and this model came out on top in terms of what I wanted for MY money
and the specifications I wanted. I'm still not convinced by 3D yet and
the thought of having to purchase £100+ glasses per person put me off.
Still not convinced from reading the reviews, either. Remember, readers,
it is vitally important that you make the decision BEFOREHAND about the
obvious things like specifications etc. Remember to communicate with
your partner on not so obvious things like colour of set and "Do We Have
The Space To Fit It In?" ie get the measuring tape out and see if the
thing will fit into the place you want to put it before you buy it!

1) Got the set delivered in the usual efficient manner by Amazon! (Thank You)
2)
What a size of a box!!! Good idea to have a mate to help you. Get old
blanket or duvet on floor. Open end of box and SLIDE TV out of box onto
blanket.
3) Sit down and have a read at the instruction booklet
(difficult for us men to bother with such things but WELL WORTH IT!).
Check you've got all the screws and bases, remote etc.
4) On a flat
big surface, you plus mate place TV onto it (blanket underneath!) and
fit base with screws (It can only fit one way) but Panasonic have
labelled FRONT to help us!
5) Got the base fitted? Well Done! Now go
to the back of your old telly and get some sticky labels and Label each
wire that goes into it. ONLY WHEN THESE ARE ALL LABELLED disconnect all
wires from TV (ONLY THE TV END NOT THE BITS TO THE SATELLITE BOX, DVD,
BLUE RAY ETC) only the bits going INTO the telly.
6) Unplug old telly Say a sad goodbye to it and connect up Panasonic TX-L42U3B.
7)
Have another read of the instruction book, especially the bit about the
remote, what the little buttons on it actually are !!!!!!
8) Turn it on (button on RHS near foot of screen). Press it in.
9) Follow the on-screen instructions and ENJOY!
10)
Take mate to nearest source of alcohol and purchase him/her several
large ones.....then take him/her back to your place and reward him/her
properly. I find Sky Sports HD is appreciated though my wife may
disagree!
PS If you have a male/female offspring in the 10 to 20 age group all the above ten steps will take them the blink of an eye!
