I have three sons who grew up with "big wheels" stuck on their buts all day long. Now with grandkids visiting, we decided to purchase one for entertainment when they came to visit. After extensive searching, my wife and I couldn't believe that a product that was so abundent years ago couldn't be found anywhere!
Finally this "razor" popped up on a search page.

When the product arrived I found it a blessing to assemble. I remember the past, putting numerous big wheels together what a pain in the rear it was! This was so easy. It took me maybe 5 minutes and it was ready to ride. The front wheel is built so much better than the ones my boys used to wear out, constantly. The rear wheels are actually skateboard wheels that rotate 360 degrees. It's a lot of fun watching my oldest grandson do donuts in my driveway. The body isn't plastic anymore either, it's steel.

We have gotten so many praising comments when we go for walks. Seems there are a lot of us out there who remember the older versions and are quick to apreciate the engineering advancements. The color doesn't hurt the attraction either, it's a metallic silver with blue trim. Very eye cathing.

I don't see this one wearing out any time soon, but if / when it does, We'll be getting another. Who knows, we might get another for my other grandkids so there's no fighting over this one! Great product with great engineering changes!

We purchased this item for our 8 year old on his birthday. I couple of the neighborhood kids had one, so naturally he wanted on as well. We found it on Amazon for what we feel was a good price considering what the "locals" wanted for one. My experience with the seller was great and the shipping was fast and made it in plenty of time. We assembled the little rider and the giftee wanted badly to ride it, however it was pouring down rain outside. So we moved the cars from the garage and let him ride it inside the garage. The next day I went out of town on business for four days. On my return, my son asked if I could look at his Rip Rider because he couldn't ride it properly. Upon examination I saw that the "crank arms" (the pedal arms that are used to propel the bike) were bent and asymetrical, therefore causing him trouble riding it. It seems the older boys (12-14) thought that it would be fun to ride it as well, albeit not as gingerly I'm sure. As a result, the crank arms bent when they "spun" around. This happens because the front wheel doesn't have the necessary freewheel characteristic to allow the wheel to spin freely (think about coasting on a mountain bike or ten-speed)as the trike spins around. My young son doesn't have the leg strength to keep his feet on the pedals when this happens, so it's only an issue when the pedal comes back and smacks him in the shin. The older boys, however, have the leg strength to keep their feet on the pedals and try to "power out" of the spin, therefore bending the less than adequate crank arms.

In summary, it's a fantastic bit of fun, but cheaply made and way overpriced. I now have a trike that was only four days old before being un-useable. My only hope is to order a new crank arm and make sure the older boys stay off.

My kindergartener is very tall (4'2"). We got her the Rip Rider for Christmas and she absolutely LOVES it.

She had a bicycle too, but since she's so tall, the bicycle is very tall too and she's very cautious on it. She often preferred to scrunch herself into her too small tricycle. I decided to try out the Rip Rider as a compromise between the bicycle and the tricycle. I'm so glad I did.

She's the perfect size for the Rip Rider. I do have to say that not many of her classmates would be able to reach the peddles comfortably, but she has no issue. She loves to spin and really, that's what she does most of her time on this. I'm not sure that an older kid would find that too enjoyable, but she does.

The only downside to this product was the packaging when it was shipped to us. It had a gigantic picture of the Rip Rider on the side. Luckily she wasn't home when it was delivered, but given how large the box was, it was a trick to keep it hidden until Christmas.

I had to return my first Rip Rider, the hinges on the front fork were welded on too close together, it was impossible to fit in the frame. I called Razor on the number given as they clearly state - Do not return to store. Well i got nowhere with that. Luckily Amazon ships a replacement out right away and gives you 30 days to ship back the defective one.

It's quite easy to assemble and even comes with the tools needed to put it together. Its basically a 15 min job :

1) front fort to frame.
2) front wheel to fork
3) seat to frame
4) 2 rear casters to frame

My only complaint is that the artwork stickers were not attached properly, i had to pull some back and attach them correctly. Other than that the Rip Rider seems to be very well made, i like the fact the front wheel is solid so I won't be dealing with punctures down the road.

Both my 5 and six year old boys loved it. It took them about 10 minutes to figure out that it spins 360 and they haven't stopped playing on it since.

I just wish it had a breaking mechanism and I would be nervous about using it along a side walk close to traffic.

We purchased this for my three oldest children (10, 8, and 6) on their birthday. That was 8 months ago. This was the most used outdoor ride on, outside of regular bikes, this past spring and summer. It was a hit among the cousins and neighbor kids too. The tread on the front wheel wore out eventually, but it is still rideable. After a few months, the bolts on the seat came loose, and we lost all but one, buts that's an easy fix with a run to the hardware store.

It was on sale at black Friday, and for the price, it was practically cheaper to buy a new one than to buy all the replacement parts needed for a "tune up" (the front wheel assembly and the back caster wheels). This is definitely more than just a "big wheel", the kids loved this rider and the wear and tear shows it. I'd be upset, but it was used every single day of the spring and summer, when it wasn't raining.

We have had one major tip over in the eight months we had had it, and that was taking a sharp turn around a sidewalk corner, going at a very fast speed. The kids would ride this when we would walk down to the park, which is about six or seven city blocks .

I researched between this and the ex rider. We did eventually get an ex rider for my niece, but this was usually the first rider to be picked.

I highly recommend this rider!
