The Schwinn 450 arrived and the box was filthy and torn. I was quite worried. Took photos. Opened the box outside and carried all the pieces separately inside. The instructions were good and the nuts and bolts etc were packaged in clear groups. The instructions missed out a bit about putting two bolts under each footpad. I worked that out for myself. It was very fiddly to put the bolts in the neck bit with the plastic cover getting in the way. I used my childs magnets to get the bolt and washers that I accidentally dropped inside the cover.

Now to using it. There are 2 user profiles in the Schwinn Advantage which saves all your stats which is good. The first two times we used it there was a clunking sound as the flywheel went past a certain point and then this noise disappeared. Now there is only a bit of squeaking and creaking which I think a bit of lubricant will fix. Easy to use and it is a quiet machine.
We are happy with our purchase. And now we just have to find the time to use it. I bought this about 2-3 weeks ago.. The shipping company will only deliver things M-F from a window span from 9am to 3pm... not.. we will be there at so and so.. but.. we will be there within that time frame. I have a 9-5 job and I wasn't about to take a paid leave day for this.. so, I picked it up myself. You will need a pick up truck and a very good friend to help you out. the thing is BIG..

Putting it together wasn't really that bad... If you have an extra person, it will go much smother (which I did).. So, i put it together.. then came the big time to test it out and... there was something wrong with it.. I was able to adjust the tension om the control panel, so I knew the connection was good, but.. when you pedal, the machine does not register the repetitions, so it pauses every 5 seconds.. I called Nautilus and they told me that it was the wheel not registering the reps.. so, they sent a part and told me that someone would call from 5 to 7 business days. Today was day 7 and I have not heard a peep from their technician. So, i'll send an e-mail and follow up.

* Note that my One star is due to a defective machine which is now standing next to my couch... maybe, in a month or so, once and "if" the machine is fixed... A few years ago I bought an elliptical I didn't like. It was just too hard to use and too noisy. A friend of mine has the Schwinn 420 and had recommended that model. When I started shopping again for an elliptical, I saw that the 450 is an upgrade of the 420.
