Considering the price of this TV (£399 when I bought it), the quality of the picture and the on-board features are astounding.

The first thing I noticed was how light the TV is - thanks to the LED nature of the screen it was noticeably lighter than the smaller 32" LCD TV it was replacing that I bought a few years ago. There was a small amount of assembly to perform - a matter of attaching the stand to the bottom (you'll need a Philip's screwdriver), but that took only a few minutes.

In-use, the picture is very good. Considering this is one of Samsung's 'budget' TVs, there are minor issues of a blue shadow following rapid motion, but it's a rare exhibition and hard to spot unless, and the lay person (my flatmate) has never noticed them. That said, it's more than acceptable for watching fast sport like F1 for example, and even in games it's very hard to notice, and typically absent entirely.

Freeview HD is supported, and the difference between standard Freeview can be astounding (depending on the channel and time of day - a few programmes are 'only' 720p, versus the 1080p that makes best use of the display, and indeed most HD programmes broadcast are either 1080i/p). The SmartTV features are what got me to buy this TV rather than one of the lower models (like the UE40EH5000). So far we've used iPlayer (supports HD!) and YouTube (supports HD and leanback mode!) and been very impressed with the quality and performance. The UI can be a bit sluggish, but that might just be the nature of controlling it via an IR remote... the LOVEFiLM app has a horrific UI, but is workable, and really if you have an XBOX 360 you should use the LF app on there if you can. There's no support for 4OD, but again if you've got an XBOX you can use that instead.

It also comes with a bunch of other 'games' and 'apps' that are largely pathetic and worthless excuses to bump up the number of apps they can advertise (like a "smashed screen" app that shows a blank picture and adds cracks each time you press a button - why?), so don't expect Android or iOS-quality apps. They're not there, at least not yet, and I doubt ever will be (unless perhaps the next generation of these TVs runs Android).
