This is my 2nd purchase of the attic fan. The attic space of my home required at least two attic fans but with the high cost I had decided to purchase just ONE 10 Watts fan to see if it really does the job of keeping the attic cool. Our a/c unit was struggling keeping the temperature in the upper floor at no lower than 80 degrees even though I had it set for 78. You could feel the heat seeping through the ceiling.
Before installing the fan, the attic temperature was ~135-140 degrees in the middle of the day in 100 degree weather. After the installation, the attic temperature had dropped from 140 to 125! The next summer, our electricity usage dropped 30%. Now this summer I purchased the 20 Watts fan, installed it, and the attic temperature dropped again down to 110-115 degrees. In one to two summers, the attic fan pays for itself!
The installation was a breeze because the vents I had was the exact same sized holes for the new solar attic fan. The solar attic fans are built tough and are much sturdier than the existing vents. The metals of the solar attic fan are probably be 5 times thicker than the old vents.

By living in Houston, I did not need the thermosat so I simply just disconnect the wiring from mid-December to February.
I had to choose between the solar attic fans or radiant barrier. Sure the radiant barrier can cool down the house BUT where does the HEAT go??? It bounces back through the roof which can cause the roof to heat up twice and further degrades the roofing material and wood framing. With the Solar Attic Fan, where does the HEAT go? Simply vented through the fan and out into the atmosphere.

I purchased two of these and installed them on the roof of my utility building. The fans run very quiet and the speed of the fan fluctuates with input from the solar panel. It's really nice that when the sun is shining a lot, then the fan runs fast. Less sun, fan spins slower. I love the fact that this product is self-contained meaning that I didn't have to install electrical wiring to run the fans.
I have found that the vent functions as a good passive vent even when the fan is not running. I know this by being on the roof and using an anemometer to gauge air movement from inside the utility building out the roof vent.

I looked at turbine vents of all kinds and finally decided to get this product. It seems expensive, but it appears to be very well built to me and easily servicable if a warranty call ever needs to happen.
So far I have not installed the add-on thermostat product to these roof vents, but it is a VERY easy thing to add later on if that is desired.
I was especially pleased by the manufacturer including a full tube of polyurethane caulk to be used for the installation. The caulk is a very good product and a full tube is more than enough to caulk the entire install.

This weekend we got 2 30 watt Natural Light fans installed on our 3800 sq ft(under air) roof; built in 2011. We probably have more like 5000 total sq ft of attic when you include 2 porches and a 3 car garage. We also purchased the thermostat for each.
On the roof we have 4 roof vents about 4 ft long. Before installing I put my hand under one of them and no air was flowing out of it. Now, with the fans installed, not only does the air pump out of the solar attic fan, but they are pulling so much air that the 4 roof vents have a steady flow of air through them too. Also, when the hole was cut we immediately felt the hot air pouring out of it.

Regarding the instructions, perhaps they work fine but our roofer did not follow them. Instead, he did it as he knows best. He removed shingles like a puzzle until he had enough removed then cut out the hole and installed the fan. Afterwards, he replaced the shingles into the same place they came from while installing more of the black roof paper (using the tar stuff too). He was also very impressed with the quality of the product and made positive comments regarding the flange and ease of installation regarding it.
At first thought, I found all solar attic expensive, bu the need to get some working ventilation in my attic without an available power source made it an easy choice. Luckily, I feel I chose the right one from the moment I received the product (quickly), verified the solid construction of the entire assembly and tested it without any need to assemble/connect/screw anything.
The vendor mailed it promptly, and I was pleased to discover it was also available in a black powder finish (which I requested) to help it better "blend" with the rest of my black roof than an aluminum color would have. The fan was somewhat easy to install (excluding the climb onto the roof) and required only a way to cut the hole in the attic and a power drill.

The extra power capacity up from 10 watts will definitely come in handy after a few years of weather dirty up the solar panel, so I won't have an actual need to climb up on the roof as often to clean it up (not an easy task for my 2 story home). The warranty is a nice "feel good" factor too, but hopefully I won't have the actual need to try it in my lifetime.

Even though our attic is only about 900 square feet, I decided to spend the extra $90 for this 20-watt unit, instead of the 10-watt unit. I think it was money well spent. This has made a huge difference in how comfortable our house (especially the upstairs) stays in the summer. It used to be 5-7 degrees hotter upstairs. Now I can't tell any difference at all except for on the very hottest days of the summer.
