Power and Precision
The PC250MTK runs on 120-volt electrical power and delivers 10,000–20,000 oscillations per minute (OPM) by way of a high-torque 2.5-amp motor that can handle almost any jobsite application. The variable-speed unit has an oscillation angle of 2.8 degrees and comes equipped with a 10-foot cord for easy jobsite maneuverability. The PC250MTK features a durable injection-molded kit box to help keep the tool and accessories organized and protected on and around the jobsite.
Tool-Free System
The unit incorporates contractor-driven innovation such as the patent-pending Tool-Free System accessory change, which gives professionals the ability to quickly and efficiently change the tool’s accessories without bolts, washers, and wrenches. By simply pressing a lever, contractors can change the accessories or adjust the accessory angle. A release of the lever ensures that the accessories easily click into place, ready for the application at hand, without the need for separate bolts, washers, and wrenches.

This is a nice tool as long as it doesn't break. After a couple hours of occasional use over several months, it quit working. Took it to the PC authorized repair center, and today it celebrated its 2 month anniversary "waiting for a part"!!!!! It's true, the official repair center does not stock repair parts!!
While I really like the quick blade change feature, I am about to consider this tool MIA and buy another brand, like the Bosch. Bosch tools have not let me down like this PC. That's the quality that Black and Decker's ownership has brought to PC, which once upon a time was a solid company.
Update - I just found out that the part is on back order until January. It will be 6 months before I get this back.
Update 10/26/12 - After calling PC corporate and repair service, they sent a new tool, complete with case! I have changed from 1 star to 3 stars. Why not 5 stars after receiving a brand new replacement? Because of the hassle it took to get to this point, and 3 months without use of the tool. PC's website currently states that all tools are repaired within 5 days. However, the part I needed was on back order for several months. I understand that things like that can happen in manufacturing. However, the customer should not be made to wait. Service experience aside, this is a very handy tool. PC's quick blade change feature is the best, and others will likely eventually copy it.
Got this tool to remove worn out grout from the shower. The vibration is minimal and it feels good in the hand, but make sure you wear earplugs, because the monotonous buzzing sound can get loud. Setting the speed dial on 4 or 5 is great for removing the grout and gives control, without skipping over and scratching the tile. Setting the speed dial below 4 is painstakingly slow and anything above 5 will require more concentration to keep the blade within the grout line.
Here's the surprise: The semi-circular tile grout blade (included in box) cannot get into a 90 degree corner no matter how you re-position the blade. You can only get close to about 1/2" on both sides of where the 2 tiles meet. Good thing I had my Dremel, because the small bit allows for removing grout in 90 degree corners. The quick change mechanism is awesome, but you better have strong gorilla strength to depress the spring to insert and remove blades. If you have a wimpy grip, then buy this tool and use it daily to develop your grip into gorilla strength. Returned the Porter Cable the next day, because of the semi-circular design of the grout removal blade. On a positive note- it sure is better than using a hammer and putty knife to remove tile grout.
I have over a dozen Porter-cable tools and have always found them good quality for DIY, maybe not the best for constant use by contractors. The thing I like best about this tool is the no-tool accessory change although it takes a pretty firm grip. The accessories can be inserted to work at different angles. I got the corded version, instead of battery powered, because I often go for months without using a specific tool and have had to discard several tools because the batteries wouldn't hold a charge when I forgot to keep them charged. The replacement batteries usually cost almost as much as a new tool.I also had a Roto-zip tool which was supposed to do the same jobs as this multi-tool but never could get the hang of it so gave it away.
